Guru Studio Promotes Abraham to VP Sales and Expands Team
Toronto, ON (May 15, 2019) – Guru Studio is pleased to announce today that Jonathan Abraham has been promoted to VP Sales and Business Development, expanding his original mandate beyond the company’s content sales, and further into the ancillary consumer products business. To support Abraham, Corey Caplan joins the company as Director of International Sales.
These recent moves come at a time of rapid expansion amid growing demand for the company’s original IP. This comes on the heels of a series of executive hires over the past two years which have bolstered Guru’s entertainment business.
Reporting to President and Executive Creative Director, Frank Falcone, Abraham will expand his role to drive the company’s strategic sales efforts, including content sales, licensing and merchandising, consumer products, and new business ventures.
Reporting to Abraham, Caplan will be responsible for the company’s international content sales, as they prepare to unveil several new properties later this year. Caplan joins Guru with over a decade of experience in television distribution as the Director of Sales at Portfolio Entertainment, and most recently as the Senior Director of Sales at Gusto Worldwide Media.
“Jonathan has broad expertise across a wide spectrum of the kids business and is well positioned to adapt our sales efforts to the rapidly changing landscape,” said Guru Studio President Frank Falcone. “Under his brief tenure, we have seen remarkable sales growth across a variety of new sectors.”
“I’m thrilled to be leading Guru’s expanding sales team into new areas of growth for the company,” said Abraham. “Corey is the perfect addition to our team and together I look forward to bringing our growing roster of exciting kids and family brands to a global audience.”
“It’s an incredible time to join Guru,” said Caplan. “A studio known for creating high quality, hit shows for kids and families around the world. I’m truly excited to be part of the company’s next phase of growth.”
Earlier in the year, Guru announced the promotion of Rachel Marcus to VP Creative Development as the company prepares to deliver a line up of new Originals to the market later this year and into 2020.
