Guru Studio's Original Comedy-Adventure Big Blue Greenlit by CBC/Radio-Canada
Toronto, CA (July 3, 2018)— Toronto-based children’s entertainment powerhouse, Guru Studio, the studio behind blockbuster series PAW Patrol, Ever After High, Academy Award-nominated feature film The Breadwinner, two-time Emmy-nominated Justin Time and Netflix Original preschool hit True and the Rainbow Kingdom, is pleased to announce today that Big Blue (52x11), a new animated series for kids aged 5-9, has been greenlit by CBC/Radio-Canada. The comedy-adventure series is set to debut on CBC Kids and ICI Radio-Canada Télé in 2020.

The series, created by Gyimah Garibah, follows sibling underwater adventurers Lettie and Lemo who lead a quirky submarine crew with a magical ocean fairy stow away named Bacon Berry while they explore and protect the denizens of a vast ocean-covered planet. Together, they just might unravel the mysterious secrets of their underwater universe.

Gyimah Garibah, a Ghanaian Canadian was named by Forbes as one of the “15 Young African Creatives Rebranding Africa,” in 2015 and whose unique visual art has amassed a large social media and celebrity following. Big Blue was developed with CBC Kids and veteran creator Jason Hopley, whose credits include Wandering Wenda Studio K and You and Me. For CBC, Sally Catto is General Manager, Programming; Marie McCann is Senior Director, CBC Kids; and Drew Mullin is Executive in Charge of Production.

Guru Studio is currently seeking international co-production partners for participation in the series.
